Mcusta® Butterflies
Limited to 50 Knives in Leather Display
available only from A. G. Russell™

This folder is our third selection in Mcusta's series of Limited Edition knives based on traditional Japanese Art images. The butterfly is a popular symbol in the Japanese culture. It is often used to represent metamorphosis or transformation and often represents spring. For centuries Japanese family crests have contained designs based on the butterfly.

Both handle scales feature two butterflies cut through beautifully figured Cocobolo which are then inlaid with exquisitely detailed butterflies cut from thin sheets of stainless. The 3-1/4" drop point blade is 32 layer Stainless Damascus with a VG-10 core at 58-60 Rc. Includes a beautiful A. G. Russell™ Exclusive leather presentation case. Measures 4-1/4" closed and weighs 3.8 oz. Each knife will be serial numbered (sorry, no choice of serial number) and stamped with the red Mcusta insignia (Rakuin). Made in Japan. Our catalog and internet price will be $425.00.

William Henry GenTac
Desert Ironwood and Dot Matrix Damascus
An A. G. Russell™ 100 piece Edition

William Henry's newest version of the GenTac is a 100 piece limited edition produced exclusively for A. G. Russell™ customers and members of the Knife Collectors Club™. The 3 1/8" blade is Devin Thomas' Dot Matrix stainless Damascus at 59-61 Rc. The frame, including bolsters and caps are solid aircraft grade titanium. The bolsters and caps provide a wonderful canvas for your own engraving or if your tastes call for less, they are a nice complement to the Dot Matrix and Ironwood patterns. The thumb stud and lock release button each contain a genuine citrine w/18K white gold bezel. William Henry's reversible/removable pocket clip is also made of aircraft grade titanium. Measures 3-7/8" closed and weighs 1.8 oz. Made in the William Henry studio in Oregon. This good looking knife is absolutely limited to 100 serial numbered pieces (sorry, no choice of numbers). A. G. Russell™ American Rider's Knife

No one needs to convince a horse person of the necessity of carrying a hoof-pick. If you ride, you know that it is an absolute must. Is there a finer gift for your horse person? Well, maybe a handmade saddle, in which case may we suggest that you have a pocket put on the saddle for one of these knives.

We have improved our American Rider's Knife by doubling the thickness of the hoof-pick to better protect the tender parts of the horse's hoof. You will find other, more subtle changes to make the entire knife more attractive to those who need this type of tool. The 3-3/8" drop point blade is mirror polished BG-42 at 59-61 Rc. and the hoof-pick is 420 at 50-51 Rc. The liners are brass, the bolsters, caps and acorn inlays are nickel silver.

You have a choice of handle material; Ebony Rucarta™, the blackest, deepest color and most durable of all handle materials, or genuine India Stag, (your granddaddy probably called this "bone"). Since India put a ban on stag almost 10 years ago, genuine India stag has become increasingly scarce. About three years ago, the Indian government released all the antler that had been ready to ship when the ban went into effect. That tiny amount has now been absorbed and once again we face problems finding this great handle material. Measures 4-1/8" closed and weighs 5.4 oz. Made in the U. S. A.

Lone Wolf® Paul® Presto with Pearl and Fire Opal
Limited to 300 pieces.

What a striking knife! Lone Wolf Knives has selected exhibition grade white Mother-of-Pearl for the handle scales and then set that off with an inlay of Fiery Red Opal set in a pattern of thin nickel silver strips. The 2-3/8" blade is Hakkapella Damasteel at 59-61 Rc. The contrasts are marvelous.

The Paul® Presto was developed through a close working relationship between Lone Wolf Knives® and Paul Poehlmann. They have created new and exciting styling for a Paul® folder while maintaining all the key Paul® Knife features we love. The axial locking mechanism locks the blade in both the closed and open positions for added safety in a knife meant to be carried every day in your pocket. It also provides easy one-handed opening of the knife. Simply grip the button between your thumb and forefinger and squeeze, the handle is then released to rotate freely away from the blade into the open and locked position. Reversing this procedure will close and lock the blade. Measures 3-3/8" closed and weighs 2.1 oz. Made in the United States.

Japanese Hunter
White Steel Damascus and Ebony Handle

Blades made from both White Steel and Blue Steel have been offered through the A. G. Russell catalog and on our web-site for a couple of years, but this is the first knife we have offered with White Steel Damascus. White Steel refers to a non-stainless high carbon tool steel produced by the Japanese Steel Maker Hitachi Metals. It is commonly used in woodworking tools and knives. The name simply refers to the color of the paper the steel is wrapped in when delivered from the manufacturer. The carbon content is about 1.4%, with 0.2-0.3% Manganese and 0.1-.02% silicon. Knife blades made with this steel will take an extremely good edge and will hold it through a lot of hard work. The layered Damascus adds to the interest and beauty of the knife. Even though it is very hard, it can be easily sharpened with the high quality ceramic sharpeners available today. The A. G. Russell™ Field Sharpener (AG3750) works very well.

The blade is made from a traditional Japanese steel and the knife is made in Japan, but the styling is very much American. The 3-7/8" blade is based on the Loveless Drop Point and made of White Steel Damascus at 64-66 Rc. The hilt is nickel silver and the handle scales are Ebony. Measures 8-1/8" overall and weighs 5.0 oz. Made in Japan. Our catalog and internet price will be $189.95.

Wrangler® Small 1830s Bowie Knife
With hand beaded sheath.

This small 1830s to 1840s style Bowie Knife from Wrangler® has handle scales of Curly Maple and a drop point blade with file worked back and Spanish notch. Like knives made during those years in this country, the blade is thin (about 1/16"), making the knife both lightweight and a good choice for slicing. The handmade beaded leather sheath has a belt loop that will accommodate up to a 4" belt or sash. Each sheath has a unique pattern and bead colors.

The drop point blade is 1095 at 57-59 Rc. with an antique finish and varies in length from 4-1/2" to 4-3/4". Measures from 8-3/4" to 9-1/4" tip to butt and weighs about 3.5 oz. Made in the U.S.A. Our catalog and internet price will be $195.00.
